Remember, other people might have different views on what is and
what isn't acceptable. The best rule of thumb is always...
think before you post.
It's easy to say something in the heat of the moment or make a
post or comment that you think is really funny. But always try to
remember that things that you say can really hurt someone else's
feelings or even cause you a problem in the future. Also remember
that any information you post - whether in a comment, a post might
be copied, pasted, and distributed in ways that you didn't intend.
That's is the nature of the Internet, once something has been said
or posted there is no way of calling it back. Imagine if your
future or current employer read the things that you post, how might
that affect the way that they think about you?
At the same time, we all make mistakes. If you find yourself
wishing you hadn't said or done something, it's never too late to
apologise. If you have written something and wish you hadn't, let
us know using the Contact Us
page.
Seen something that you don't like?
Occasionally other BIGDOG users may post
content or link to content that you don't like. If that happens
there are two ways that you can make us aware of it:
- You can click the Flag Inappropriate
button on the post or comment.
- Alternatively you can alert us by using the Contact Us button which is on every
page. Please include full details of where the inappropriate
content is.
BIGDOG administrators will then review the
content that you have flagged or raised and will make a decision
whether it is appropriate or not. If we find it to be inappropriate
we will either remove it or amend it as we see it.
Someone bothering you?
Here at BIGDOG we believe that everyone
deserves to be treated with respect. If you ever receive hurtful or
abusive comments, messages or posts it's important that you know
what you can do. You need to decide how serious the situation is
and you can choose to:-
- Ignore it
- Ask the person to stop
- Report it to BIGDOG using the Contact Us page. Tell us your
username and that of the person bothering you
- Tell your parents, a teacher or another adult you trust. Report
abusive content. (Remember that reporting is confidential, so no
one will know who made the report.)
Seen something that might be more serious?
If you have a serious concern that content/behaviour encountered
on the Internet may be illegal, you should report it to CEOP.
