Seeing your bank balance looking healthy thanks to your monthly pay check or benefit payment is great but it often doesn't last very long. In this article we will suggest 10 ways to make the most of the money you have.

By the way, if you aren't sure how much money you have to spend then you probably need to set a budget. Sounds boring but it won't take long and will help you get on top of your money.

  1. Check out BIGDOG for the latest deals and offers!
  2. Make sure that you are on the best tariff for your mobile. It's probably one of you biggest costs and as we all know there are loads of different PAYG and Pay Monthly tariffs out there.
  3. Make sacrifices - Eating out and getting drinks from fancy coffee shops may be nice but it gets expensive. Just 3 medium cappuccinos a week could end-up costing you £35 a month!
  4. Haggle! Often just asking for a discount will get you a hefty saving so don't be afraid to ask the question
  5. Shop around - When trying to save money use the power of the Internet. Visiting a comparison website allows you to see the whole market at a given time and then you can choose the ones you like and visit their websites to get the finer details.
  6. Manage your money. Often the cost of overdrawing on your bank account can be high so know how much cash is in the account and how what you spend to avoid expensive charges.
  7. Don't take loads of cash out in one go. You are more likely to spend it if it's in your purse or wallet.
  8. Avoid the branding - When heading to the supermarket try to buy own brands which are usually considerably cheaper than the named brands and it's often hard to tell the difference.
  9. Plan ahead and buy in bulk for things that you regularly need as this should save you even more money.
  10. Sell the stuff you don't want anymore. You will be amazed what last year's fashion or technology is worth on eBay.

Remember this is not a definitive guide, just some tips to help you save some money. Being sensible with your cash should mean that you have enough to live and have some fun along the way.
